Feeling Lucky!

Pretty much every Saturday morning you can find my wife and I at our local library and one of our favorite coffee house.

We are LUCKY to be able to take this time. A lot of people live lives that are far to demanding to be able to stop and appreciate their partner, spouse, friends, loved ones.

We are LUCKY to live in a city that boasts and absolutely FANTASTIC library system and some pretty good coffee houses.

Today, as LUCK would have it we landed at Crema Cafe in Grove City, OH where they had roasted in house the Jamaica Blue Mountain. WHAT A TREAT!

At the library I checked out a book by Phil Rosenthal called "You're Lucky You're Funny: How Life Becomes a Sitcom". Rosenthal was the creator and executive producer of Everybody Loves Raymond.

So, today, I am feeling pretty darn lucky!

I would be grateful for your consideration on your next voice project, it could be a message for your phone system, website, radio commercial, tv commercial, training seminar, webinar, animation, podcast, etc. Let your imagination go crazy!

Working On My Voice

I spend a lot of time working on my voice. Oddly, that has very little to do with my actual voice. At least the voice you hear and it doesn't require me to drink Ginger Root Tea with honey or gargle salt water or whatever. Instead most of my voice work has to do with what is going on in me, between the ears.

The best way for me to be at my best for each opportunity I have been given, for each of my clients is by keeping myself in a good frame of mind.

How do I get in a good frame of mind?

I focus on the good. I have adopted an attitude of gratitude if you will, and I would suspect that your life is like mine and you don't just float from one triumph to the next but through the challenges I remember that they don't all last forever and that this moment will pass. It is in that phrase "This moment will pass" that I am jolted into remembering that my life is a finite one and that it is a gift given to me to make the very best of each moment.

I believe that life starts anew every moment. With every blink, wink and breath.

So how do I build my attitude of gratitude?

I express my gratitude towards the people around me in varying expressions. I express my gratitude to my wife, family, friends, my best bud and dog, Nedd. I am grateful to servers at restaurants, clerks, post office workers, authors, teachers, old guys standing in line in front of me at the store and of course to my clients and their clients.

When you start to adopt this mindset, you realize how many people you depend on to make your day a good day. they don't have to do it, but they do and they allowed me to reap the benefits of their efforts.

So work on being better at whatever you do by being grateful to everyone who helps you make it to that point each and every time.

Voice Over Auditions and Gigs!

I just auditioned to be the voice of a major department store in the North-East United States. If it pans out it will be a fairly significant piece of business, as I would be the voice for the stores Internet, Radio, TV and Messages On Hold. All of which would be updated twice a month.

I am hopeful it pans out but if not, what an honor to be considered for such an extensive project that would so deeply brand a business.

I used to think it was strange when someone would say "It's just an honor to be nominated..." on award shows or wherever else, but the truth of the matter is that there are thousands of great voices in this industry and to be one of 3-5 considered for a project REALLY is a HUGE HONOR and not one I take for granted.

So here I am keeping my fingers crossed that the agency contacts me and says "You're the new voice for....." that would build my monthly retainer roster to Five clients. For the other clients my voice is used on their Radio and TV commercials, messages on hold and Internet marketing pieces as well.

If you or someone you know is looking for a voice for your commercial, message on hold, website, animation or gaming project, I hope you will contact me, Marty Daniels, The Voice Over Guy!

Me and Twitter

Today has been fun and productive. I recorded some spots for a new client (auto dealership) and updated some content for another client (national home improvement store) for their website, on hold messages and also a really cool new in store automated help center.

I also signed up for Twitter account...not really sure how it works...but here goes, eh? But if you are on twitter, follow me!
